Florida: part 1

We found cheap tickets to Florida and decided a quick flight sounded more enticing than driving 21 hours... duh. Well, that's what I thought. I didn't know when we landed in St. Pete that there would be a tornado warning followed by a terrible thunderstorm. Turns out when they see lightning at an airport they halt everything for 10 minutes (assuming they don't see anymore). We waited on the plane for an hour and a half for strike after strike of lightning. We laughed every time we saw a flash of light, "another 10 minutes!".  I'm pretty certain some very kind people closed their eyes to bring a ramp to the plane to let us all out. We were in the very last row- the one with no windows- so we got to be very last off the plane. They announced that if they saw more lightning while we were exiting they would stop those who were left on the plane and wait yet another 10 minutes. We prayed hard! I saw lighting something as I was finally walking down the ramp. I'm very grateful to the young employee who risked going outside again to get all the strollers that were gate checked.

Whew. We made it. All in good spirits!

All things considering, my children we absolute angles!!! We managed to carry 2 large rolling suitcases, 2 car seats, 1 stroller, 1 diaper bag, 1 camera bag :), 1 laptop bag, and the kids' carry-on bag through the airport. Got the rental car and we were off. I'd like to pause to count my blessings... I'm pretty certain Heavenly Father kept us on the plane because it was the safest place to be during that storm. As we left the airport on the way to Chris' Dad's house, we saw 3 accidents within maybe 2 miles of the airport! Could've been us- I'm just sayin.

Now for what you've all been waiting for! PICTURES!!!

SeaWorld... the girls had a blast!

But it was SO HOT that day! It was nice to visit the penguins... until we all got cold.
*Small story. Since Aubrie can't have dairy, we don't have much ice cream these days. At home we can make our own ice cream that she can have, but I hate to tell Marlie 'no' when she's been good all day and asks if we can get ice cream... it finally dawned on me that I can get a plain 'ol cone and she would be happy! YAY. She was very happy with this giant cone. Marlie was very hyper with the ice cream she shared with Chris and I. I hope that Aubrie grows out of her dairy issues before eating a plain cone is not cool anymore.

Chris' Dad took us sailing on a catamaran. It was so much fun! We sailed a short ways to a little island and played around for a while. Chris learned a few things and sailed us back. Aubrie was having a typical "Aubrie bad day" and screamed the entire time... unless Chris hung her from the side and let her drag in the water. Thank goodness she fell asleep for a while!

When an aspiring photographer goes on a trip to the coast, she takes a lot of pictures.
It has been almost 4 weeks since we left for FL. I took over 1200 pictures!!! I have spent every night for the past week editing pictures until I fall asleep. So, in order to get some of this trip documented... some pictures get up before all...

Please be patient with me. In the mean time, here are a few of my fave 'just for fun' pics.
