Aubrie: 1.5

My little baby is 18 months old now! Aubrie is becoming such a big little girl now. She is still very much a ham but has entered some very funny stages.

 Aubrie Mae loves to pretend. She plays puppy dog and crawls around on the floor "woofing". Thanks to her big sister she has learned to play baby and will lay on the floor whining softly. She loves to be a mommy and rocks her baby and hums to her. Aubrie also loves to "cook" with plastic food or on a chair helping me. She often brings me a plastic spoon with her imaginary concoctions to taste.
 

 Aubrie is my accessory girl. She LOVES to wear necklaces, sunglasses, bracelets, cute shoes, hair clips... you name it.

 Recently she has started saying "copycat" prayers. She is delighted at the idea of taking her turn to pray with the family. That makes me so happy!

 

The "monkey see- monkey do" stage is on! Everything Marlie does, Aubrie must do too. If Marlie says yes or no to any question Aubrie pipes up with the same answer. She probably has no clue what I'm asking but she knows that she wants what Marlie wants. (Or so she thinks). If Marlie is playing babies, so is Aubrie. If Marlie is wrestling with Daddy, so is Aubrie. If Marlie is in the bathroom, Aubrie wants to be too. This will be very handy in a few months when we potty-train! (Or maybe a few weeks? How long can I hold off...)

 

 While we have many nicknames at our house, Aubrie's newest one is Megaphone! She can project her voice like no one I've ever heard before. Seriously loud!!! She screams, she yells, she says "NO!". Looking back, she has always been a loud baby. She can be quiet when she wants to be, but mostly loud seems to suit her best. Perhaps this will come in handy for her one day. For now it leaves me feeling a little embarrassed anytime we go out in public because inevitably her sister will upset her and she will scream her feelings out for all to hear.

Luckily most of her screams are starting to turn into words. She tries hard to talk and copy words. Life can only get easier from here, huh? Some of her favorite words are:

"Tat- mow!" - Cat - meow

"Off" or "On" & "Up" or "Down"

She rolls her tongue in her cheek for 'blanket'. Don't know why but it's the same everytime.

"Dince" - Dance. She loves to turn circles and dance around and around.

"Tost" - Toast & "Na na" - Banana - her favorite breakfast foods.

"Book" - she loooves to read. Her top favorite books are We're Going On a Bear Hunt, Goodnight Moon, & The Goodnight Book.

 

 

With Summer in full swing, Aubrie has had lots of time to "learn to swim". She has mastered the balancing act of swimming in a life jacket and seems to do pretty well. She is a natural fish- just like her sister.

 

 

We love this girl to pieces! Her sister loves her lots and lots too!
