I'm one of those girls who needs "Retail Therapy" about once a week. Not just because I like to shop or spend money but because I LOVE finding good deals and saving money. Well, thanks to my friends on Pinterest, I've reached a whole new level of thrifty and I'm lovin' it!
Homemade cleaners! Seriously, do you know how cheap white vinegar is? I get huge 2 pack at Sam's Club - 2 gallons for $3.58! You can clean anything with vinegar. Here are some of my recent favs:
After-shower spray: diluted vinegar. Simply spray the shower walls and glass door after each use. No more hard water spots and we have seriously hard water here.
Dishwasher rinse aid: Just put straight white vinegar in the rinse aid compartment. No more water spots and it helps disinfect. Bonus! It will also help keep the yucky, white hard water build up away.
Window cleaner: 1 cup water, 1/4 cup white vinegar, 2-3 drops dawn dish soap.
Weed Killer: White vinegar in a spray bottle. Spray on entire weed - leaves and roots. Don't spray on plants & flowers you'd like to keep!
Fabric softener: 6 cups Hot water, 3 cups white vinegar, 2 cups your favorite scent of Sauve conditioner. Mix conditioner in HOT water until dissolved and add vinegar. I used my old container to store it. I just made this today. My juicy green apple fabric softener cost me literally about $1! When was the last time you paid $1 for a whole bottle of fabric softener?! And you only need to use about 2 Tbsp per load! Oh Ya.
Tub & Tile/ Bathroom cleaner: 12 oz white vinegar, 12 oz blue Dawn dish soap. Heat vinegar in microwave until hot and pour into squirt bottle. Pour in dish soap and shake. Use like ordinary cleaners - spray, wipe, rinse.
(are you excited yet?!) LOL, I'm a little nuts, I know. You don't need to tell me. It's the simple things in life... and I'm not done yet! There's also those that don't use vinegar.
Do you feel like you are reading an infomercial?!
Laundry stain remover: 1 part Dawn dish soap, 2 parts Hydrogen Peroxide. Pour directly onto any stain and watch it disappear!
Oxy-clean: 1 cup water, 1/2 cup Hydrogen Peroxide, 1/2 cup baking soda. Use on anything you would use liquid oxy-clean on! It's a great cleaner/ stain remover. Or just add to your washing machine for a laundry booster.
Make-up remover: (I love this one!) 1 cup water, 1 1/2 Tbsp tear-free baby shampoo, 1/2 tsp oil of choice (baby oil, coconut oil, or olive oil). I will use olive oil next time I make it. Put it on a cotton ball and wipe eye make up off easily. It doesn't leave behind any residue or oily feeling!
Not only are these all very CHEAP, but seriously only take about 5 minutes or less to mix up. You can find squirt bottles in the dollar bins at Target. Stock up! I'm totally flying high today thinking of all the money I will save this year! Hmmm... what can I spend that money on?
