Because a few people across the county have called today to see if we are ok, I thought I'd announce that we are fine. Last night about 1:30am we headed to our basement shelter and waited for an odd spring-like storm to pass. We could hear the "freight train" sound from outside and knew that it was pretty close. We listened to the radio to hear about the damages done. The F1 tornado's path was less than a 1/4 mile from our house and went right through the houses at the front of our neighborhood. It seems that we were hit on 3 sides. We really are very lucky that we had no more damage than a few small broken tree branches. As far as I know there were no fatalities, 23 homes destroyed and 22 home significantly damaged. Several businesses were badly damaged along the 7 mile path as well.
Hopefully I can have a better update and pictures to follow tomorrow. Hope you all stay safe and have some more seasonally appropriate weather!
Such a scary thing! I'm glad you were all okay. Man I hate tornadoes and it's crazy to have them so early in the season. I'm glad you have a basement!!
